Which one do you have?

  • Keepall 45 / 50Carry-on sizes and the most in demand; the 50 Bandoulière is the reference.
  • Keepall 55 / 60Larger travel sizes with fewer buyers; priced below the 50 despite higher retail.
  • Bandoulière (with strap)Strap versions sell above handheld; the strap must be included.
  • Vintage (1980s–90s)Plentiful and affordable; priced on vachetta, interior, and zipper condition.

What moves the price

  1. 01

Size and strap: a 50 Bandoulière with strap, tag, and handle keeper is the full-price configuration.

  2. 02

Vachetta condition on handles and trim — dark, cracked, or water-marked leather is the main deduction on any Keepall.

  3. 03

Interior: older Keepalls develop sticky or peeling linings; buyers ask for interior photos.

  4. 04

Canvas: Monogram and Damier Ebene are the liquid ones; Eclipse and Graphite appeal to a separate (men's) buyer pool.

  5. 05

Padlock and keys, luggage tag, and handle keeper are expected; each missing piece takes something off.

  6. 06

Date code or microchip and any receipt help — Keepalls are widely counterfeited.

The full story

The Keepall is Louis Vuitton's duffle, made since 1930 in sizes 45 through 60 and in every core canvas — which makes it one of the most plentiful LV pieces on the used market, and one of the most sensibly priced. A clean modern Keepall 50 or 55 Bandoulière in Monogram or Damier resells for a healthy fraction of retail; vintage Keepalls from the 1980s and 90s are common, affordable, and priced almost entirely on condition.

The size and strap decide most of the price: the 45 and 50 are the popular carry-on sizes, the Bandoulière versions (with the removable shoulder strap) sell above the handheld ones, and men's-line canvases (Monogram Eclipse, Damier Graphite, Taigarama) have their own buyer base. The vachetta handles, the handle keeper, the luggage tag, and the padlock are all expected to be present and in decent shape.

Used (eBay listings): the Louis Vuitton Keepall averaged $750 on Sep 11 and $850 on Oct 16, so prices rose 13.3% over 36 days of tracking. The lowest daily median was $650 (Oct 3) and the highest $959 (Oct 12).

Questions

Which Keepall size resells best?

The 50, followed by the 45 — both work as carry-ons, which is what most buyers want. The 55 and 60 are larger than most people need and sell for less despite costing more new.

Are vintage Keepalls worth much?

They're affordable rather than valuable — there are a lot of them. A clean 1990s Monogram Keepall with even patina and an intact interior sells well; one with cracked handles or a sticky lining is a project bag.

Does the Bandoulière strap matter?

Yes — strap versions retail higher and resell higher, and buyers search for 'Keepall B' specifically. A Bandoulière missing its strap is priced closer to the handheld version.
